28 agosto Back online - YES!!howdy doody folks!
this will just be a quick one: just wanted to drop on in and let you know that we are back online once again ... yayyyyyyyy!!
so, we went offline back on 17th of june and now we're back online 28th of august. so after 2months and 11days or thereabouts (who's counting!!) its all come good.
we're back online with a mob called Virgin; new players in the broadband ISP market. their plan isnt all that crash hot: we only get 4gig / month and the connection speed is only a garunteed 512kbps with a max throughput of 3.6mbps. upload is 384kbps. but considering that the plan is bundled with a phone plan that gives us unlimited local and national calls, plus a few other things all for the measly price of 60bucks a month, meh, i'm not complaining!! it sure as heck beats the pants off of dial-up!!
anyways, just thought we'd let you all know the good news, so standby for a bluk email from us soon and also a proper post here with some new photos of the kiddies within the coming days!!
night folks,
Dan and the "glad-to-be-back-online" Millerick Family
(Marcie + Maximillian + Malia + Isabelle) 08 luglio Almost 1 Month Later...heck, has it been that long!!
well, here we are - not online at our place, but over at my folks place! the whole non-net thing is working out ok. to be honest, we dont miss it that much ... true! there is one thing we do miss however and that is online banking. it makes life so much easier having it. but oh well. such is life. yes, well, anyways...
here we are!! ;)
posted some photos up for you guys. there are actually 2 new albums up. one with shots of our new place (dont mind the mess!) and another one of just some various shots of the kids around the home and what not.
the house is good. its a little smaller than the last place - obviously - this place is a single story where as the other was a 2-story. so storage has been a bit of an issue, but we have used this move, like all others as a time to clean up and clean out. so its all working out well. the best thing is that the house has a great backyard. its probably bigger than the other house we just left and its flat to boot!! so the kids have great fun out there ... mind you though, it has been a little chilly and even wet on a few occasions for the kids to truly enjoy it just yet, but things will warm up in the next month no doubt, so that will be good.
anyhow, can't stop too long as we have to take care of other online things while we have this opportunity, so we hope you are all keeping well. sorry about the short and snappiness of this post, hopefully next one will be better!! anyways, enjoy the photos and be waiting on bated breath for the next post!! or not ;)
so long for now,
Dan and The Happily Settled Millerick Family
(Marcie + Maximillian + Malia + Isabelle)
PS - check out that trailer for the new TRANSFORMERS movie ... the movie is 10 times better than what the trailer makes it look like! if you haven't seen it, go see it!! its awesome!! :D 17 giugno So long, so well...and i would keep singing and typing at the same time but i'm not sure how to spell that whole ... auf veeder sain goodbye ... part!?!?!? and then also put in all the dit dits there as the music plays!! ;)
anyways, just wanted to very quickly update you all and let you know that you should all now have an email from us - both Part_A and Part_B - detailing all our new information and what has gone on in our move. If you havent, perhaps try and get in touch with someone you know who also knows us and ask them to pass on our new info to you ... because, once we turn off the computer here, thats it. we will no longer be online, well at home anyways!! you could email us at our hotmail accounts if you'd like, but be forewarned that, it might be a week or 2 or more before we are able to reply to you.
like i said in the emails, things have gone well throughout the move and loss to items has been a little higher than other moves, but its ok. spirits are still high and we're working fast on getting things setup.
in fact, its time for me now to sign off so that we can shutdown the computer and pack up the last few things here so that we can then go ahead and setup over at the new house. so without further adieu ... i like saying that!! ... we shall bid you all farewell for now and shall hope to email you or at least post here again soon.
so have fun guys and we'll catch ya's later, Daniel and the Happily Moved Millerick Team (Marcie + Maximillian + Malia + Isabelle) 15 giugno House hunting ... oh joy!?!?!?g'day there folks!
well, its been a little bit since we last posted about the whole house thing and thats been because theres been a bunch of stuff happen - and guess what? - you get to hear all about it now!! :P
so, as you know - i think (from last post) - we got the lovely 4weeks notice letter to get out of our current place on the 24th of may, as the landlords had managed to sell this current house (had been on the market since about jan/feb, so it was kind of expected). after taking a week or two (i guess theres our first mistake right there!!) to look around and see whats available and slowly start packing, we decided to start applying for things.
there was not a whole lot available as it was, but there was some stuff. like i already said, we had 2 or 3 places lined up to go for, so off we went. one of those 3 i think we ended up deciding not to go for and so left with 2 we went for those. the first house we actually applied for, we ended up being accepted for, but i wasnt able to look at it until last weekend due to work. so when i saw it ... well ... lets say i wasn't overly thrilled about it!! for some reason i was thinking it was located in a different section of the suburb it was in. anyhow, after a few days, i decided to apply for the second option we had. it was through the same company, so they had to release our hold on this first house and transfer our application to this second house - but guess what?? - we didnt get the second house ... no-one did!?!?!? really bummed about that and not sure what the heck happened there as we were told it would be fine and we "should" most definaitely get it!! so with that we said, look, fine, just transfer our application back to the other one and we'll take that - but guess what?? - now that house has been giving to someone else and so we can't have that house either!?!?!? all this happened within the space of like 12 to 18 hours!!
so here we were, down to 5 business days left to look for a house, apply for it, and get accepted for it! i say 5, because most rental places don't work the weekends, huh!! go figure!! and because, we had given our own 2weeks notice once we had been accepted for this first house!! oops. also so you know how tough they make it for you, they dont like you to apply for a house, unless you have actually been given a walkthrough of it ... argh!!!
so here we are, all stressed out and worrying about being homeless for the first time in our lives. who would have thought that this whole rental thing is so cut throat!?!?! i mean, this is only the second time that we have had to go through a "real" rental place. all of our other times, we have been blessed to have gone through private places.
anyways - here comes the end! - mid-yesterday afternoon (thursday) we finally got accepted for another house. this was after much agonising on our parts and after getting to the point of telling the company we were and are now still able to go through, look, just give us back our money and we'll go off searching through someone else, because it just got to the point where trying to get information or any action from this mob was like getting-blood-from-a-stone!
BUT...
its all good now. things have worked out and the house we are accepted for, we will be signing the lease for, today (friday) and that will be it. the house itself is better located/situated than the first house we applied and got accepted for and is on par with looks and "user friendliness" as the second house. the backyard is heaps better than the first and as good as the second, although perhaps a little smaller. its your standard 3 bedder with study, ensuite, double lock up garage - everything we were looking for in a house (although a "real" 4 bedder would have been nice!! ;) ).
so God has been good and things have worked out well, actually, better than what they were at the start of this whole ordeal!! just would have been nice if we didnt have to have gone through all of that!! oh well, such is life!! :)
and now, it is off to packing. so we shall type more later and will let you know all of our details via email real soon.
cya guys,
Dan and the not-as-stressed-as-before Family
(Marcie, Maximillian, Malia + Isabelle) 07 giugno We are still alive!hey everyone!
hmmm, so much for keeping on top of things hey!?!?! :S i mean, after all, it has only been about a month and a half since we last wrote!! oops!! oh well, at least we're here again, for now ;)
well there has been lots going on, both good and bad things. let's see:
[good/bad] dan finished his sub-contracting to IBM and Lexmark. the work was good and i loved doing what i did, but just the whole contracting thing wasn't a good steady job.
[good] dan started full time work on the 14th of may!
[bad] everyone got sick with a horrible and very potent vomitting / dirrohea bug from the 26th til the 31st of may - and i mean everyone :(
[good] dan, dad and jake had their birthdays on the 16th, 16th and 18th respectively!
[bad] we found out on the 24th of may that we definitely do have to move out now :(
[good] we are hoping for 1 of the 3 prospective houses on our list. one of which we find out about on the 7th of june - today.
[good] isabelle started walking! she still prefers to crawl, so at best she only takes 2 or 3 steps at a time, but she is walking more and more!!
[good] we changed internet providers, so we are on a much better deal -and faster one at that- now!
[good] we changed to using VoIP for our outgoing calls which has meant a phone bill of $AU10 to $AU15 either side of $AU100 with optus being slashed to around about ONE THIRD the price (thats including line rental)!
[good] we started up swing dancing again!
[bad] we finished up swing dancing again! it's right in the city and starts at 6pm. i don't get home until 6pm from work, so by the time i would get home, freshen up and then we leave, we wouldnt get there until just after the balboa class has started. which means we would have completely missed the lindy and thats our preferred dance of the two :(
[good/bad] marcie has started lollipopping again!?!?!? its only for half an hour in the afternoons, one week on one week off, so we'll see how that goes.
[good] dan finally got in touch with Anfo (hey mate!) and for now, i think thats it!!
so there has been some stuff going on. then, not to forget, all the normal day-to-day stuff and the extra stuff to do with having kids - man, is life good or what!!
well, i think i might go back to bed now ... only thing is, i have to be up in half an hour to get ready for work!?!?! man i hate it when i can't sleep - oh well, it got me to update our little part of the web now didnt it!! righto, shall keep you all posted on how things go with our house hunting, so be on the lookout for an email from us soon with all our new details.
have fun guys,
Dan and "The Ever Busy" Millerick Family
(Marcie, Max, Malia and Isabelle) 28 aprile Sometimes its just too hard. . . .to try and keep up with the Jones ... well, at least keep up with the blogging on our little piece of webspace here!! :P
hey ya guys!
yes, well, not sure if we told you guys, i think we did!?!? anyways, malia got sick last week and then so lovingly passed it on to all of us and so far, we are all still sick! yay! it has been oh so much fun!! oh well thats life. so because of that and then because also of Isabelle's birthday on the 19th and then her party on the sunday after the 19th, things just went from one thing to another, relatively quickly ... indeed ... thats life.
as you can see from the photos off to the side there a good time was had by all. ending up with some much needed rest at the end of the afternoon. that was nice!
well not much to report as thats been about it this last week;
the kids have been sick and so they have also been cranky and whingy and tired ... all the good things!
i've been working - last week and half coming up now for my IT Tech job.
looks as though we won't have to move real soon now as the contract that was on the house has fallen through, so we should get at least another 4weeks in this place!
and
well, yeah thats about it!
so with that, why not go check out our photos, look at the video - thats an awesome one that one is ... if you like ninjas!! and we'll come up with some new and fantastic for next time, well, we'll try ;)
have fun now,
Dan (and the rest of the sickly household) 20 aprile We're back!hey ya folks!
ok, well, looks like sorry is in order to start off with. I know its been like 18days since our last post and the reason for that is, well, lets just say our easter didn't go as well as it has in previous years; the "hostiles" were out in force! But that aside now, things are looking up and looking like being back to normal.
all the chocolate is gone now (thank heavens) from easter ... i'm back doing my IT Tech contract work (only 2 weeks to go now though) ... Max is ploughing through his school work (he really does love it) ... Malia and Isabelle are still making sure they don't get left out of anything ... and our lovely, beautiful Marcie is holding the fort up just wonderfully!
mind you though, don't know how much longer Marcie will be holding this fort up for!?!?!? if you have not heard, we are only renting at the moment and our landlord has decided to sell. the house was put on the market a couple of months ago now and while it doesn't look like being sold any time soon, you never can tell when that SOLD sign will go up! our lease actually runs out on the 12th of May, so we may very well just pack up and head out regardless, meaning, the option to sign another 3mth lease is there if the house is not sold by 12th May, but we both don't want to just keep on hanging on and waiting. we just want to keep on moving forward!
so yeah, life keeps on moving and happening ... even though we wouldn't mind a little rest or holiday every now and then!!
anyways, shall sign off for now so that i can go and fix up a couple of other things on our webspace here. promise i will try and not leave it so long until next time. so in the mean time, have a look at the new photos i've just uploaded!!
enjoy,
Dan + Marcie (Max, Malia + Isabelle) 02 aprile What a weekend!Evenin' folks!
well, here we are ... start of another week and just into yet another month. can you believe it?? a whole quarter of the year is already gone. oh well, that just means my birthday is even closer now!! wether thats a good thing or not - we'll see!!
anyhow, yes, friday i went out to stanthorpe like i said earlier. that was good fun. the install only took a few hours like i thought it would, but the drive was nice, especially in the early morning. nothing quite like our aussie landscape! its tops.
saturday was working on selection criteria (SC) all day long - yuck! its the first time i've done it. normally i stay away from jobs that require SC. which i suppose is part of the point of SC. i guess the employer only has to worry about those who really want to put in the effort, i suppose. thats not the reason why i don't do them though. its just trying to come up with all the right politically correct words for the SC and to "embelish" the real things. besides, i'm the kind of person who prefers to just get the job and do the job well - even better so, if i can! trying to pull apart a particular job and put that into words just isn't up my alley i guess. oh well, that was saturday.
sunday was finishing up that SC, that is, after going to church. my Dad got baptised this sunday just passed and it was also our senior pastor's last sunday before leaving for Townsville to take up a senior pastor role up there. so it was a mixed emotions morning on sunday. sunday afternoon, after we had lunch, i got stuck back into the SC. however, this time, my friend came over to help me with it - the same friend who put me onto the job (Thanks again Rich ... you're a lifesaver!). so that went until about 9ish with lots of catching up in the between times, as well as eating pizza and watching a great show "The IT Crowd" --> if you're a geek / nerd / just love computers, then this show is for you! <-- but we did get it finished. all that was left for me to do by the end of the night was to just re read over it and fix up any spelling and grammatical errors i found.
so that brings us up to today, monday. earlier this afternoon i emailed off the SC and my résumé and the application form and so now i just get to wait it out. hopefully it won't take too long, but we shall see - it is a government position afterall! and what other lovely things happened today?? well marcie and i are pretty sure that all 3 kids are crook or are getting crook (that is sick) - so they were all feral today which made life, ahhh, so very very pleasant!! oh well such is life!!
and here we are now at 7pm on monday night. time to just kick back and relax now. might watch some IT Crowd now that i've been thinking about it or i might go and save the world for a bit (thats code for play a computer game) or i might upload some new photos that aunty amy and aunty fran took of the kids from sunday!?!?!? what to do, what to do!! well, i think i might try and get them photos up hey! need to be updating the site with more than just more ramblings from me!!
so until next time, enjoy the new photos and have fun,
Dan (and the Sick Fam) 29 marzo Another day, another. . . . whatever really!!afternoon folks!
well, here we are yet again! and that is a good thing. i mean, i don't want to be one of those people who goes "all out" so to speak and then just leaves it (speaking about the website here!). so i guess, it's only right that i keep on writing about stuff here ... no matter how boring it is, right??
anyways, today was a slow day. i didn't have a site to go out to today, so i was just chillin' out at home. lucky i was though. i got an email from a mate of mine, telling me about a job going at his work (thanks heaps for the heads up Rich!). its a governent job, so that means the dreaded Selection Criteria, but hopefully i'll get through that (with the help of Marcie and my mate Rich [thanks again Rich!]). then if all goes well, should be off to an interview in a week or two or so, but i'm not counting my chickens just yet!
and speaking of work, i do have a site to head ou to tomorrow - OUT AT STANTHORPE!! sheesh. thats going to be a killer. i'll have to be up at 3:30am, thats right, AM! and make sure i leave the house by no later than 5AM so that i can get to the client's site by no later than 7:30am. the thing that i've just realised though with this site tomorrow is that i have a funny feeling that its only going to be a small install. which means maybe only 2hours work at the most. so 4hours of travelling for 2 hours work ... thats just peachy!! oh well, it brings in the money, so thats a good thing!!
well, other than that just another day here. marcie did homeschooling with max, isabelle cried her guts out at stages and malia threw a few tantrums!! hee hee, nahhhh, they're not that bad! it was interesting teaching max and malia how to play redlight this morning. you know, someone stands at the front (of the room or wherever) and whenver their back is to the contestants, the contestants have to run up to the someone at the front. but when that someone turns around and faces the contestants, the contestants have to freeze in their tracks. if they get caught still moving, they have to go back to the start (back of the room or wherever) and try and make it to the front again! so, as you could possibly imagine, quite the fun game to be teaching a 2 and 4 year old!! it was cute though.
and now for something completely different... (gotta love MONTY PYTHON!!)
not really, its just dinner time! so its time to run along.
i hope you're all appreciating the site thus far though. we'll try and have some more things added, like more photos and what not as time goes by. might try and work out how to embed some quick 30sec home videos of the kids or something!?!?!? well until next time,
have fun,
Dan (and The Fam).
PS - i didn't choose the Polar Bears background because of the "Stop Global Warming" description it had on it, but rather, because the Polar Bear is Marcie's favourite animal. it;s like Marcie's touch to the site!!
CYA's 27 marzo Welcome and Hello :)G'day there folks!
Well, here we are ... finally! Putting up a little something, just anything has been a long time coming from me. In the background I have been toying around with many different options and doing various things to try and put together a website for out little family so that our extended family, friends and relatives can be kept in the loop - to a certain extent anyways - of whats going on with us. It's just that I always end up getting carried away and taking forever and then deciding "Nup!" and ultimately moving on to something new!! Sooo, when we got an invite to join a friend of ours' 'Live! Space' (Hi AnnaLee), I got to thinking, maybe this will be the way to do things...
And so, here we are! It hasn't taken too long to put together and was relatively painless. I know there will be little quirks here and there that I'm not happy with, but for putting something together on the fly and quickly, this has worked out well.
So why not go and leave us some comments, view our photos and whatever else you can do here and I'll finish up doing what I need to do here.
Until next tiem then,
Daniel (and Family) |
